Here is why Romney will win the general. Another line that he said at the Reagan library debate stuck out at me. "Obama's a nice guy, but he has not clue how to create jobs". Swing voters can get behind a statement like that, and nor are they interested in name calling, which is what calling Obama a socialist it.

Yeah, but Romney, still has a primary to get through and this isn't what those voters want to hear. They'll take this as Romney not being suitable to be the nominee.

Romney is quite clearly posturing himself away from the extremist wing of the GOP (which won't hurt him all that much, he wasn't going to get their votes anyway) so that he'll win over moderates and perform better than Perry in polls versus Obama. Then, he can push the electability argument.
