"Let’s bag it.

I’m talking about the tenth anniversary ceremonies for 9/11, and everything that goes with them: the solemn reading of the names of the dead, the tolling of bells, the honoring of first responders, the gathering of presidents, the dedication of the new memorial, the moments of silence.  The works."

Sure, those attacks were one of the worst things to happen in American history, but continuing to use the victims those events for war and the increasing police/security state is an insult to them.  It is also an insult to constantly remember the attacks like they happened yesterday.

Using tragedy as a political prop is very pathetic. Sadly, it is the oldest trick in the book.

Articles like this only serve to prove that the opposite of every overly theatrical reactionary position (9-11 War on Terror God Bless America mourners) is another overly theatrical reactionary position.

We shouldn't do anything.  This anniversary coverage is annoying, but it too shall pass.

Agreed. 40,000 Americans die every year from a lack of health care (http://www.singlepayeraction.org/blog/?p=1481) and what do we hear about that? Nothing.

9/11 was used politically to expand the police state (DHS, Patriot Act) and the military industrial complex (war in Afghanistan and Iraq). Pathetic.
