Considering there are four early primaries/caucuses Nevada get little if any relative attention form the national media. Is it simply because it's a new early state or for some other reason?

It always seemed to me to make sense to pay attention to the state seeing as how it is fast growing, relatively swing-y and the only Western state among the early primaries.

Because NV doesn't decide nominations.  IA does, NH does.  If it's not over after those two, it's a horserace until Super Tuesday.

It's important, but if someone doesn't win anything before Nevada, they're not going to win Nevada, and they're not going to win the nomination. Nevada is just important among people who've already won contests.

I think it is the fact that strategists expect Romney to take this state with no problem at all. That will change when Perry is shown to be only 5 points behind early next year.

Nevada was a lame pick for the early western state. Washington would have been much better. Smiley
