America Needs to Turn Toward God, Pawlenty Tells Iowans

The solution to America’s economic and other woes lies in the country’s return to God, Tim Pawlenty said while addressing a Christian gathering in Iowa Saturday amid preparations for a debate and the Ames Straw Poll.

The number one priority for America is that “we need to be a nation that turns toward God, not away from God,” former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty told a gathering of hundreds at the Spirit Midwest music festival at Jordan Park Camp Saturday, The Des Moines Register reported.

Pawlenty said 2 Chronicles was “a great passage for healing this country.”

“If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I’ll hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land,” Pawlenty said, trying to quote the Old Testament passage from memory.

Remember when people thought this guy was going to be a serious contender?

Not that this has anything to do with that but still . . .

It was a gathering of Christians and a presidential candidate is a glorified salesman.  I don't see how this hurts his chances at all.

Pawlenty is going  to make an hour long speech?

Better go and bring a blanket and pillow, I haven't had enough sleep lately.

No, T-Paw, I would even prefer opebo's economic program than having to do the above. Sorry, but you simply ask for too much. No!

Is there any way we can jettison the Iowa caucuses, at least on the GOP side?  I mean, it is not as if the participants are a representative sample of anything (other than Evangelicals with a Calvinist streak; personal prosperity is a sign that God loves you). And the Dems are recording everything the pander bears are saying for later use. It's a Dem plot!

Perry talks this way too?

I always thought Pawlenty would be top-tier and one of the last remaining, but his campaign has been completely devoid of nuance.

Yes, but it's not pandering in his case. It's all he knows how to do.
