By this question I mean, are we the new conservatives in that we want to conserve the America that has existed for nigh on a hundred years? The Tea Party, technically speaking, are the ones with the radical solutions, radical ideals; They want to change America much more than we do. Liberalism has slowed to a crawl in terms of grand platforms and ideas. Compare the New Deal and Great Society to Obama's modest platform. Now compare that as well to the well laid (if morally and practically speaking wrong) ideas and grand ambitions of the Tea Partiers.

We, on the left, are trying to conserve the America that's existed since the time of Franklin Roosevelt. The Tea Party wants to change all of that drastically and undo all of it, leaving us very much close America that existed at the beginning of the last century.

Demographics and the march of medical science are rewriting the rules all over the developed world. It's hitting a wall.

The American Left is too afraid of being called 'left-wing' and they're too easily silenced by the vocal minority on the hard-right.

Good to see Rochambeau back on his other account after being banned.

It makes some sense.
The original conservatives were the crown loyalists. So yes I can see that being the modern liberals. Lover of the established government.

The original liberals fought against it for freedom, which would be comparable to the Ron Paul crowd.

The non-RP tea party though, I'm not sure where you'd put them. The we love government but hate the guys in charge crowd. They'd love Obama if he were a R.

No, moderates are the new liberals.  Welcome to the realignment.
