How would such a scenario play out?

A strong, but unlikely ticket.

Why do you think the South wouldn't vote for an all Mormon ticket after four years of Obama in the White House? If Evangelicals have a problem with Obama being perceived as being irreligious or secular, than I'm share they would get over whatever fears they have of the Mormon faith.

Evangelicals will not be as excited as they have been and blacks will be easier to get to the polls with Mormons on the ticket. ...I think Obama will do fine in NC,VA and FL against Romney.

An all Mormon ticket? I think the anti-Mormonism expressed by the GOP in 2008 against Romney is still in the GOp, and will only be amplified by having two on the ticket.

While I agree that this is the GOP's best hope (Centrism), I doubt there will be any party unity. Conservative groups are actively working to take out Romney, and adding another moderate (and a Mormon) to the ticket will only infuriate them and they might back the Constitution Party or whatever.

Obama still wins. It won't be a landslide, but it will still be an O victory.

Centrism is not the best route for Republicans, but your a self-described socialist, so I take that comment with a grain of salt.

Both of them aren't really that centrist though. Even Huntsman positions on social issues aren't atypical of most Republicans.

Why wouldn't it be? If the GOP stays in social conservative/neoconservative mode into the future, young people will increasingly go to the Democrats. The only possible way for the GOP to win the youth anymore is to put forth moderates/centrists. The last time the GOP won young voters, it was Reagan and Bush Sr., but even they were at least socially centrist.
