sorry for the visual, but seriously, don't you think this guy could walk away with the GOP nomination?

he's both a fiscal and social conservative and doesn't have the blank stare that Pence has.

and he has the seniors in his back pocket:

I say Ryan needs to go for it and personally take his budget directly to the people in 2012....if he wins the POTUS in 2012, he'll have his mandate.

Do Dems fear a Ryan run at all?

Every precedent says that Paul Ryan would be an electoral disaster. Having the elderly vote locked up? Not by much. Sure, voters are selfish -- but the young have more to lose under the Ryan budget than any others irrespective of age. They are not 'social' conservatives willing to commit themselves to low wages, sexual repression, tax cuts that first filter through rapacious plutocrats and trickle down perhaps a century later if at all.

Congressional Representatives just don't win the Presidency. Indeed, they don't even help in as VP choices. Geraldine Ferraro and Jack Kemp both lost their own state -- both times New York.

Paul Ryan has become the ultimate Washington insider among Republicans... and that might be the worst thing to be as a Presidential candidate in

he's also Catholic, which should help him in swing states in the midwest...and he voted for TARP and the car bailouts, which I also supported out of necessity, so at least he doesnt let his ideology keep him from fighting 5 alarm fires (though his votes on these will probably hurt his chances for the nomination, but his budget proposal should offset those votes).

so, on paper, he's about all I could ask for.

Yes, he could do it. Maybe he'll get a VP spot next year or in 2016 and have a chance in 2020.

I think he could be a very unifying figure. I'd defininetly support him. He voted for TARP, he's in a huge leadership position in the House, he came out with a very revolutionary budget. He might not make it to the early states even, but I think he has some very good potential.

Your URL didn't work for me, is there another one?

He most likely has his eye eventually on the Senate. And that's most likely whenever Kohl decides to retire, so maybe in 2018? He's guarenteed re-election until then so he has until whenever he wants to try for the job. I could see him running for President one day, but not for awhile, and he's still young so he also has the time.

Feel free to start a Paul Ryan thread, but try to do it in a less trolling way.
