I strongly support this bill and Governor Corbett will sign it immediately.....and for all you poll watchers who say he's doomed, this will be a plus IMO.

What exactly would you have to do?

To get a CC here.......breathe, fill out a short application (at home because you need a couple of references), have photo id, pass a 10 second criminal computer check they do through the PSP, say "cheese", and pay and you're good for 5 years.  30 minutes tops at the Sherrif's office.

edit - What shocks me BM is the Sherrifs have told me how many people they've arrested on the spot when they run the PSP criminal background check while you're standing there........Are the crooks so stupid they don't think the criminal background check picks up outstanding warrants?Huh

You oppose the no duty to retreat in your own home?

I don't speak for Johnny but I think the crux of the argument would be that one already has a right to self defense which is adequately protected by existing laws.  On a personal level, I don't believe in a right to own guns - whatsoever - but I wouldn't give anyone grief for defending themselves, their family, or their property.  I mean, you do what you have to do.

No problem on the personal level at all, Ebowed, but now there IS a duty to retreat in your own home, so maybe people are not adequately protected, or adequately protected from ridiculous prosections that occur when someone blows a guys head off who he finds standing outside of his kid's room, which is all the bill addresses.

[edit].....actually the way the law is now is a perfect topic for a jury nullification thread.

Fair enough.  My knee jerk reaction to any generic expansion of gun rights is simple disapproval, but I am more sympathetic to increasing the leeway for self defense rationales than my position may let on, if that makes sense.

Jury nullification will be necessary as long as there are victimless crimes. Wink

It makes total sense to me, Ebowed.  Cheers!

No idea what this sentence means, but my comment wasn't directed at the bill itself but at the victim mentality that gun rights people have when they're probably the least oppressed group in the country (beyond plutocrats, anyway).

Gotcha........well then you're in the wrong thread.  This bill simply allows a homeowner to blow some bastard's head off while he's in your hallway without having to try and run out the back door (and risk getting killed yourself).........so we're cool.
