Just as an FYI, if any media figure in the US asked this of President Obama, they would be instantly fired, and would then have to go on a healing journey among Laotian Buddhist monks in order to cure their intolerance, if not check into rehab.

I suspect there's a point being made here, but I can't for the life of me understand what it is.

It might actually make sense if Cameron had blood on his hands by starting a war or something bad like that. But Cameron-bashing for the sake of Cameron-bashing is not a helpful thing.

But that journalist seems stupid enough to have a career in French political journalism.

More significant than that question (is it even possible for 'how on earth do you sleep at night' to be an innocent question? Answers on a postcard, please) is the fact that Cameron was given a slot on that programme in the first place. The One Show, and I must emphasise this for non-British posters, is not a bastion of serious journalism. Or even of journalism.

Hardly for the sake of it.

People see him as the guy (along with Clegg) who's making 500,000+ people unemployed, raising taxes, trebling tuition, making us run local services for no money, cutting pensions and privatising the health service. That's how people generally see him round my way, a safe/Northern Labour seat.

You mean you have real journalists like this in France?  In the Bad Place we only have propaganda peddlers for the Right.

I think this fellow was refreshing, and the fact that - so far as we've heard at this point - he has not been fired is amazing.

Remember what happened to Dan Rather - the US is not friendly to any non-Right journalists.

If I had watched the show, I probably wouldn't have felt the question was out of place. Just would have seemed like a 'Your job must be really hard and bothersome' style comment to me.

There was a period, not too long ago when Messrs Blair, Brown and Reid seemed to be on GMTV every second day. And that was never a bastion of journalism either Smiley

No, but it was in the morning and no one pays much attention to telly in the morning. Although The One Show is essentially morning telly in the afternoon...
