I would read this, but you didn't say if it was interesting or insightful, so it's probably not worth it.

What is particularly interesting is that the Republicans may well obtain the Presidency and a majority in the Senate in the 2012 election.

So...guess where that leaves the Democrats?

Where the Republicans were in January 2009. How did that turn out?

What I don't get is that democracy means accepting that the other side will sometimes win and have the right to make legislation for the country. Some Republicans really don't seem to accept that at all--at all! And you think Democrats naturally agree with you, that we are each authoritarians who don't accept that sometimes things change. That's really disturbing. I embrace filibuster reform knowing that if the country votes in Republicans, it will get Republican governance. CARL, do you think that if Democrats are elected, they should be banned from governing, because they are the wrong party? That is a bad point of view to have.

First, I really feel sorry for you.  Recently your posts have been loaded with venom, and total misrepresentation of others positions.

Second, I pointed out that when Democrats were in the minority in Congress (with a Republican President), they supported the filibuster.  I provided quotations, named the sources, and provided urls.

Third, it seems to me that the same rules should apply to both parties.

Fourth, you seem to believe that 'governance' demands running roughshod over minorities.  Not only did I cite Reid's earlier valid point, but I would suggest you read the Constitution of the United States, where it repeatedly requires supermajorities for several purposes.

You know, CARL, you're right. I can have a bit of a nasty streak some times. Do you have any advice for how I can be more polite and respectful to people I disagree with and have a hard time finding respect for? What's the best way to deal with posts that seem to be dishonest, or smug? I need to engage better with people, it's true.

Ya, Brittain33 is such a hater, and his posts make cobra venom seem like aspirin. It is amazing he wasn't banned years ago.  Who knew?

Ah, the irony given, well, the source of the j'accuse. Tongue
