Just got off the phone with someone "in the know".  I thought you guys should hear it first.  Turns out that a certain Pennsylvania politician is going to be forming an exploratory committee.  There should be an announcement sometime in the next few days.

Anyone care to guess who it is?  Smiley

Tom Ridge is running? Wow, didn't see that coming! This has completely caught me off guard.

Wink

EDIT: Damn it, Vander Blubb. You tricked me... nice one, though.

Would it be the one a gay sex position was named after?

With all due repsect to Santorum, why does he think he even has the remotest of shots?  He lost reelection by 20 points.  Making matters worse, he is someone who believes in the power of government to push conservative goals.  No thanks.  We tried that with W.  He's great on abortion, but even Bob Novak once called him boorish.

In the absence of a GOP candidate from the northeastern quadrant of the US, Santorum might do well in the primaries of several such states. He did win a majority of the Republican vote in the US Senate race in Pennsylvania in 2008 -- right?

If he kisses up to the "right" people he could get the overwhelming lead in campaign funds.

Unelectable in the general election? Of course. He lost big in Pennsylvania in 2006... but he can't blame Republicans. He would probably lose about 58-42 in the general election and about 60-40 in Pennsylvania. Hope springs eternal for fanatics.

So far my predictions of who would win the GOP nomination are wild because I don't know much except where the candidate might have certain weaknesses.
