Ladies and Gentlemen of the North East and the Atlasia Forum, weclome, good evening, and thank you for the warm reception. I am here tonight to outline my goals as the newly elected Governor of the almighty North East region. Before I go any furthur, I wish to name by choice for Lt. Gov. I have received good comments and advice from many of the great citizens in my region. However, there is one name that stands out from the rest, and I have chosen him to be my number two. That man is former United Atlas Centrists Presidential Candidate and Former Senator, Nation of New York. Not only is he the person I trust the most, be he is also the man I want in office incase the unpredictable happens. I have spoken to Nation, and he gladly accepts.

*****claps,claps,cheers,claps*****

As Governor, my number one priority is too amend the North East Constitution to include some voting rules. I have looked over my colleuges, South Eastern Governor Ernest's regulations, and I will enact ones very similar, that are fit to the region.

On a more personal note, I have an announcement that may come as a shock to many. I hereby announce my attentions to leave the United Atlas Centrists Party in favor of the Atlas Forum Democratic Party (AFDNC). I feel as if the UAC is being taken control of from Republicans and is making its way to the right instead of the center. They are also trying to make alliances with the Atlas Forum Republican Party (AFRNC), which I am against. For these reasons I am leaving the UAC and joining the AFDNC.

Thank you for listening, good night, and may Dave Bless this great forum and our great region. Thank You.

Unbelieveable.  This is extremely dishonest.  You should have announced a party change before the election.

I understand the reasoning... but I concur with Kemperor that the timing is off, and I also think that the two "real-life" parties - while they have their place - are big enough already!

This move is dishonest in a fundamental way.  The voters deserved an honest choice.

I would like to make clear that I was dissatisfied with Mas in his decision to leave the UAC, but I accept it.

It's particularly dishonost as Governor MAS was perfectly willing to accept the AFRNC's help in his bid to become Senator.

Oh well.  I wish him the best of luck.  He is an able civil servant and I have no doubt that he will be a very good governor.

MAS this is very dishonest. You should have told the people of the Northeast the full truth before your election. Many UACers voted for you because you were a UACer and now you dishonor them and the Centrist party by switching parties. You should be ashamed Mr. Governor.

A recall for switching parties? I am considering switching back to the UAC for the reminder of my term.

There is no procedure for recall in the Northeast, though there is procedure for impeachment which requires two-thirds of the region's citizens to be invoked. It also requires "just cause" - whatever that means.

BTW, I think impeachment would be a complete over-reaction.

Who cares?  He changed his party.  Big whoop.  When I changed from UAC to AFIP when I was Governor, no one cared.

Did you do it two days after being elected?

The truth is that 75% of the UAC voted for MAS as compared to only 33% of Democrats and 0% of both Republicans and Libertarians/Other. So I would say that UAC was a bastion of MAS's support.

People vote for who they think would perform the job most efficiently and who share similar ideological beliefs. MAS has not changed his beliefs, he has simply changed the name of his party. What's in a name? I support MAS 100%

I have to agree with Redefeat Bush. Yes the UAC did support me, and I owe alot to the party, but the Dems did factor a major part in my victory as well. I had only 2 UAC votes in this election, 3 Democratic, 1 UL (Siege, which you could possibly count as a Democratic vote), myself, and Atty. Gen. Peter Bell.

Could possibly count as a Democrat! Oh, we'll see about that!

Yep. He even got some votes from the R avatars because of that UAC name.

If MAS had been a Democrat I would have either not run or dropped out after he would have gotten the AFDNC nomination, and he would have won anyways.

I don't care what party someone is, as long as they don't change their stances.  Certainly, this move could have had better timing, but it doesn't lower my opinion of MAS, and I am sure he will be a fine governor.

This argument over whether or not MAS would have won had he been a Democrat, to me, highlights the issue of whether we're voting for a person or for a party more than any problems in MAS' decision to switch parties.  I agree that he should have informed voters of his intentions beforehand, but really, he's simply a rose by another name, as far as I can tell.  I can't see how his personality or voting tendencies have changed one iota from his party switch.

I think we all need to just take a deep breath and put this in perspective.
