1. District Court Judge issues an injunction prohibiting the enforcement of DADT anywhere in the world. Obama has 60 days in order to appeal. The military's study on DADT is released on Dec. 1 so we likely won't hear a decision from them before then.

2. Obama's DOJ does decide, right at the deadline, to appeal decisions from last summer out of Massachusetts that overturned DOMA's federal discrimination against couples wed in same-sex marriage jurisdictions. We had a lot of discussion about this earlier in the year. I'm not surprised. DOMA certainly isn't going to be decided by a lower court, nor would Obama leave it there.

3. In Florida, Governor Crist and the Dept. of Children and Families (?) have decided not to appeal a court ruling overturning the state's ban on gays adopting children. Florida was the only major state to have such a ban--others are Mississippi, Arkansas, Utah, I think. This ends that chapter and is a big deal for people living in Florida, particularly those who have already served the state and children for years as foster parents with no hope of being allowed to adopt the children they've sheltered.

Great news.

Interestingly, the DADT lawsuit was originally brought by the Log Cabin Republicans.  All I can say to that is:  Epic fail, Democrats.  Your party controls Congress and the White House, and it was a Republican group that finally initiated DADT's demise.

Just wait, the new Republican wave (and the GOP president in 2012) will bring back the outright ban of homosexuals.

It's not possible for there to be a GOP President in 2012.

Sure it is. Republicans take the House next month & then Obama & Biden are exposed as cacti & forced to resign because citizenship rights have not yet been extended to the cactus peoples. Tongue

Obama is trying to be the ultimate moderate hero.
