I posted this comment in another thread but I want the boards opinion: If Laci Peterson was a black girl from Compton- would this be getting the same media attention?  I don't think so.  The media, IMO, is tremendously hypocritical.  Hundreds of black girls and poor whites get killed every year- no news.  School shootings were happening in black schools for years before Columbine.  Had O.J.'s wife been black it might not have been as big a story.

The fact that it happened on Christmas Eve and she was nine months pregnant had a lot to do with it. Add to that Scott's insane fishing alibi.

The story wasn't even big until it was discovered that Scott Peterson had carried out an extra-marital affair while his wife was still missing.
