I should be a mod.. except the voices in my head have told me no. Wink

In all seriousness, I don't know how good of a mod you'd be, Sewer.

No and the position should probably be eviscerated.

The only reason anybody would possibly even want to be a mod in the first place is to punish people for disagreeing with them, so I would vote "no" on all such polls.

Clearly.  There's nothing I enjoy more than punishing someone for saying supply side economics work

Aspiring to be be mod, is sort of like aspiring to have a career driving a dumpster truck, during the era where one had to get out of the truck at each address to physically lift the trash cans off the ground to pour its contents into the appropriate repository.

Correct, and it comes with as much respect as well.

I don't need respect.

More like aspiring to be a Kapo in a concentration camp.

I must say I'm relieved, as I wasn't enjoying being Karl Rove very much these last few days.  Running a concentration camp is so much more fulfilling, you know?

fwiw, it's not inherently a chore to be a mod.   Deleting threads trying to sell you stereo systems before anyone else notices is quite fun, even if unnoticed, and you knew people would bitch constantly about you when you took the job.  So it's not innately a terrible job.  What makes this into a terrible job is how distant Dave is, yet how concentrated the actual ability to make tangible decisions is.  So, we have this BS nanny-bureaucracy that does nothing, an administrator who knows nothing about the forum, making decisions from 1,000 feet, with only 15 seconds of information, and  with no knowledge of the people involved and no interest in adapting the system to be able to understand things like context.

The most power mods have is the ability to assign "points" that mean nothing...even if i 1,000 abused my power and assigned 500 of your posts 10 point infractions for no reason, nothing would happen outside of a temporary suspension of your posting abilities, so that's like the worst one of us could do to you on a freak out, all of which would be carefully documented and catalogued.  Something tells me the Gestapo police force had a few more powers.

As a person whose ancestors actually were in a concentration camps, I feel deeply offended with such an idiotic comparision.

Why would you want the job? I know I wouldn't.

It depends on the individual.

Someone like Joe Republic would want the job so he could act like a grade school hall pass monitor on a power trip.

Bully posters with threats and infractions, gain access to the secret mod board where you can mock people behind their backs, and then complain all the time about how you get no respect for all the great sacrifices you make to be a moderator. What a gig.

Please be consistent.  First I'm a senior Nazi official, then I'm a member of the Bush administration.  Earlier today I get reverted back to a Nazi concentration camp guard, and now I'm just a lowly hall pass monitor??
