Nobody wins in that situation.

I wouldn't underestimate Bayh. It would be close in a race between him and Pence.

Although, since Bayh is apparently afraid of doing anything that would give him a chance of losing I don't know if he'll even run for this now that Pence is in.

Ah, there's an office for which he's actually suited. And furthermore, an office of which he can actually win. Tongue

If Bayh runs, then I endorse Pence. I hate Bayh. I really do. A whole damn lot.

No one to the left of Ghengis Khan should hate Bayh--or anyone--that much to wish "Governor Pence" on any state.

So much for jmfsct's dream of President Mike Pence.

This is a necessary step for Pence to run for President, which is likely why he's doing it. This move, and getting the hell out of Washington, shows he's a lot smarter than I gave him credit for.

Makes sense to me, would perfectly position him to be a Presidential contender in 2016 or 2020.

Pence knows you can't win the presidency out of House, unlike some of his fans. He's just 51 and could run in '16, '20 or even '24.

he'd be perfect for 20 and even 24. I would think unless conditions are real good for him that he'd skip out of 2016

Think about it again. You can hate Bayh, but pence is worse, for sure.

All he'll be is an extension of Daniels.

I hate it when people are obviously using an office as a springboard to run for President, which I feel like is painfully obvious in this case.  What a douche.

I thought Skillman was going to run too? Maybe she'll run for Lugar's senate seat instead to prevent Bayh from winning. Many Democrats hate him for being a DINO, but a nasty primary between Skillman and Pence could allow him to squeak by. He still has enough popularity with Hoosiers to make it a competitive race.

Person running for Lugar's seat is Lugar:

I'm not sure if Becky Skillman will run for Governor. Mike Pence's biggest obstacle would probably be Richard Mourdock, who has also been traveling the state.

Republicans in the state aren't going to risk losing anything in 2012, so we plan on pushing a lot of stuff through this next session, such as education reform and restrictions on abortion and gay marriage.

Damn, I feel bad for those who have to live in Indiana. Sad
