Its like a poll of Bill Clinton versus George W. Bush circa 2007. Everybody would love to go back to 1996.

Too bad for Culver,  Iowa usually votes GOP in bad economic times.

In 2006, a lot of people said that Culver was a piss poor candidate, seeing as how unpopular the GOP was and that his opponent was a member of the US House GOP when it was as popular as hell that may very well be the case.

Any chance of the Democrats pulling a Torricelli here? That might be the only shot at this race being remotely competitive in November, or anything less than a complete massacre for that matter.

Why bother? Nobody in Iowa can beat Branstad.

I think this may also spell trouble for Strickland too, Iowa is a bellweather state like Oh except 76,88,00 have they missed each other, I think both incumbants may lose.

Why exactly? What do Ohio and Iowa have to do with each other?

Both incumbants have mediocre approvals and so does Obama in the state. That's what they have to do with each other.

It's impossible that that might be by chance? (And even if not....what does it have to do with the two gubernatorial elections?)

They are fighting against an anti incumbant mood nationally.

Then why does that only apply to Iowa and Ohio?

But don't forget, Ohio and Iowa have voted the same way in every gubernatorial election since the end of WWII.

Except 1998 and 2002.

And 1986.

1982 too.

Oh, and 1970.

1966 and 1960 as well, I guess.

Plus 1956, 1952, 1950 and 1948, of course.

But... um, yeah.
