Also apparently Madoff is widely respected by his fellow inmates.

I thought his jail was filled with anti-Semites?

Evidently not,

Despite the attack on him inside this past winter, Madoff carries high respect among most groups of inmates and apparently now heads his own prison gang.

Wow. Well, maybe he should be put in a higher security prison.

My understanding is that Madoff's fellow inmates refer to him as "the Godfather" and "Don Madoff."

This is the first I've heard of him heading any gang, though.  I guess I need to follow his prison blog more closely.

Interestingly enough, if Madoff was in the federal government he'd get an award for "years of passionate service".

Every so often something makes me question my stance on the death penalty.

I'm not surprised........he's not soooooooo stupid he didn't think he'd ever get caught, IMO.   But he lived the high life for so long he views this as his retirement, compliments of the feds......and has a F*** it attidude.

Can't say I'm surprised, despicable words from a despicable person.

On a side note I think I graduated h.s with the contributor to the article.

in the same story he has been reported as saying he wishes he was caught many years before, which is a brand of remorse, though maybe not the type people tend to crave.
