I just had my second and last oral exam today in Mathematics (Calculus/Statistics)! It's over! Cheesy We'll all be getting drunk tonight I imagine Smiley

exam grades:

Political Science (written): 14 points (A)
English (written): 15 points (A+)
French (written): 13 points (A-)
German literature (oral): 7 points (C-)
Mathematics (oral): 14 points (A)

Total grade (includes ALL course grades from the last 2 years, it's a pretty complicated calculation...in addition to the exam grades): 1,7 (A-B, slight tendency to B+)

Never have to go back to school.....except to party Smiley

Congrats, Franzl ! Smiley

I finished my Matura, as we call the Abitur here in Austria, about 5 years ago, also in June.

I think I had

(written):

English: A
German: A
Math: C
Biology: C

(oral):

German (something with Kafka I think, where the main character was a bug): A
English (main subject was the 2004 election between Bush and Kerry): A
History (main subject I think was Vietnam war): B
Geography (megacities): B
Biology (infections and diseases caused by the 2004 Tsunami): C

What subjects did you have Franzl ?

The specific content of the exams, btw, Tender:

Math: a mixture of calculus and statistics.....in German: Kurvendiskussion einer e-Funktion (praktisches Beispiel), Normierung von Normalverteliungen zu einer Standardnormalverteilung und entsprechend mit der Flächenfunktion umgehen.

English: immigration, got a text from some ultra-liberal Californian idiot talking about how we need to welcome illegal immigrants.....how we're evil....etc. I tore im apart in my analysis Smiley

French: just got a story we were supposed to analyze and discuss....don't remember the title.

Sweet! Beer and pretzels for everybody.

Well done Franzl.

(Btw, is it just me or do Germans have a strange fascination for Kafka?)

Yeah, after some Googling it was Kafka`s "Die Verwandlung" (The Metamorphosis).

I was quite good in German with studying all the historical facts and the great writers of Austria and Germany. We did focus primarily on Austrian writers in the last 2 years of Gymnasium (Trakl, Musil, von Hofmannsthal, Roth, von Horváth, Kafka etc) as well as Storm, Fontane, Goethe, Schiller and Hesse. We always had to analyze poems on their criterias relative to literature history and schematics of the rymes and so on ... Tongue

English wasn´t that difficult, as I was really interested in the 2004 election and went through the exams in a walk.

Math was not really my thing but I did OK with all the Kurvendiskussionen, Integralrechnungen, Polynomfunktionen, Ableitungen here and there, Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnungen (helps me now with Poker) and Trigonometrie.
