I noticed he joined the Maine girls in helping the Democrats end debate on the financial bill.

So I was wondering - how often has he voted with Snowe and Collins? In every vote I can remember whenever they both vote with the Democrats or with their caucus Scott votes the same way. I'm sure it's not coincidental.

Anybody got a summary of his voting record?

Brown proved today that he is also willing to be the 60th vote if necessary, something a lot of people were betting against fairly recently.

I like him.

Any word on what he'll be doing in 2012? He's positioning him quite well for a long-term career as a Republican in Democratic country.

He will be running for reelection, and probably losing.

Yeah, Massachusetts is not Maine. It's more liberal with a much deeper Democratic bench and no recent history of Republicans in congress. Snowe won her seat from congress and Collins followed a Republican who she worked for. Brown has a big target on him, I doubt he can see off the host of Democrats that'll be gunning for him in 2012.

He's the most popular Senator in country...He's here to stay.

Okay, that might be an overstatement.  He will win reelection though.

I love me some Scott Brown...

Lincoln Chafee had 63% approvals on Election Day 2006 and still lost reelection. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Capuano runs on Obama's coattails and narrowly defeats Brown in 2012. It's like Harry Truman said (except in reverse): if the people are given a choice between a real Democrat and a Republican who acts like a Democrat, people are going to vote for the real Demcorat every time.

The only thing is that Scott Brown doesn't act like a Democrat, and that's good, I like the guy.

I am not denying that Massachusetts is a pretty danged Democratic state but I agree.  I will go onto say that without a Kennedy in Congress don't be surprised if suddenly Republicans start experiencing a resurge in popularity.  Will they take over the state legislature?  Hell f***ing no, that would probably take decades to do, but it's not insane to suggest that maybe just maybe Republicans might get a seat or two (if they play their cards right) in the US House and maybe retain their newly won US Senate seat.
I mean Massachusetts used to be one of the strongest Federalist/Whig/Republican states in the country before (which I am guessing is due to immigration, you know how the Democrats love them some Irish Catholics) the Democrats managed to become competitive in the state in the late 1800's before David Walsh managed to (in 1919 no less) become the first Democratic Senator from Massachusetts since 1851, a period of 68 years!
This is politics and like in real life sh*t happens in politics.  I think it's insane to suggest that Massachusetts will suddenly become a GOP state or a tossup state (unless the GOP runs Ronald Reagan the 2nd) but "Change is in the air."
I wouldn't be surprised if Scott Brown not only wins re-election but does so with a surprising margin (like more than 8%).  I might sound crazy, but so would somebody who in 1917 suggested that Friggin Massachusetts would have a Democratic Irish Catholic senator in 1919 during a Republican wave year.

The Chaffee comparison may not be quite apt, since Chaffee was sunk by his party's extremely low popularity nationwide. He probably would have won in any other year, & it is far too early to be able to say what sort of year 2012 will be.

Well not all of us can be pretty sure about events that are 2.5 years into the future, so forgive me for being skeptical.

And that was Chafee's problem. He should've switched parties. Scott Brown is just a reasonable Republican.
