His role in the Revolution outweighs his decisions as President (hard to forgive Alien and Sedition, though).

Horrible Person for becoming a Federalist and the Alien and Sedition Acts.

Gee, this one seems kind of hard but given the net accumulation of his efforts I'm going to have to go with HORRIBLE PERSON.

fwiw, I thought Doctor Atomic sucked.  Strangely enough, for Adams, the orchestration was really horrible.  Go figure.  Nixon in China at least is kind of catchy at points.

Still think Steve Reich is the best minimalist-type composer out there generally, fwiw.
