What if the canuck letter was never published and Edmund Muskie wins the nomination how would the election have turned out, discuss with maps.

Bottom line: Nixon still wins big.

Muskie is more rational, in the voters eyes, compaired to McGovern.

Nixon probably wins about 55% of the vote. 

VP for Muskie makes no difference.

Nixon still wins in a landslide, due to his incumbency, foreign policy successes, and a good economy. However, Muskie gets about 42-45% of the PV since he is perceived as more experienced, competent, and less radical than McGovern.
