I have been operating under the assumption that the candidacy declaration deadline is 7 days before the earliest possible begin of the general election.

Fritz pointed out to me that legislation was passed reducing that to 24 hours before an election begins.

Unfortunately, that legislation is not listed on the Wiki....and I assure you, I reviewed the Wiki extensively before making official announcements for the Department of Forum Affairs.

I apologize sincerely for the confusion caused by this. At any rate, all candidates have until 11:59 pm Eastern on Wednesday, February 17 to declare candidacy. That, of course, includes Xahar's running mate, that originally got an extension until Monday.

John Engle's case is very complicated.

The candidacy declaration period of 24 hours is clearly a constitutional problem, considering that John Engle does not fulfill the constitutional requirements to be a candidate in an election.

I go by the Constitution....not what the Senate passed, so I will not be including John Engle in the ballot.

There is a lot of legislation that isn't on the Wiki.  The HAEV bill isn't there either.

I admit I haven't paid very much attention to a lot of what's happened in Atlasia recently.....and I totally forgot the deadline thing passed whie I was still in the Senate.

It's a shame our Attorney General doesn't update the Wiki.

Only took you six minutes to blame someone else. A lot longer than I expected! Grin

Is it not the responsibility of the Attorney General to make sure Atlasian law is posted on the Wiki? Wink

I seem to recall adding numerous amendments to the Constitution when I took office--the Constitution hadn't been updated in well over a year. You were AG within that time frame. Was it not your responsibility to step up and add those amendments? Tongue

To be honest, the PPTs changed in December. At the time (and perhaps still for that Senate) there was no thread that had them all linked like I was used to. I kind of forgot about it then.

Besides, at the time people were complaining I was too active. Wink

https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Statute#Thirty-Fourth_Senate

Anyway, if someone wanted to help me figure out what legislation is missing from the end of the 34th Senate, I'd appreciate it... I'll work on the 35th soon.
