Of course not. Finding a cure for aging is the moral thing to do.

They have one.  It's called "death."

That doesn't count. It isn't really a cure if it stops life altogether.

It is a preventative.

Yes, but I think the question implies a non-death preventative.

Well you can't have everything.

Sure, to the extent that it would be nice to be able to feel and act like a 25 year old until about age 110, at which time you die peacefully in your sleep. At least that would put on end to this most annoying health care debate.  Smiley

Actually I suspect it is the sheer misery of the last decades of a normal human lifespan which makes death seem not so bad - in fact, many 'welcome' death.  If we died at 110 with the vigor of a 25 year old, man, we'd really feel depressed about it.  Well, that is, until we were dead.

In what way would immortality en masse be desirable?  The world's population would have no chance of stabilizing and resources would be consumed at an even faster, more dazzling clip.

Of course, we always could reserve this cure for the wealthy, but that seems highly immoral.

You could then pass laws preventing people from having kids and steriling the world's population. That will stop the population growth instead. I know--highly unrealistic, but still.

No, you really couldn't.  It's more than unrealistic.
