There's a lot of nice places in OC, BRTD.  I would much rather live there than in San Bernadino county.

There are a lot of nice places in San Bernadino County as well, to be honest.

Where might that be?  Ya, I suppose Lake Arrowhead. But it gets snow in the winter. The bit of Upland near the mountains is nice, if you don't mind the still somewhat dirty air, and heat in the summer, and being well, where Upland is.

Hmm, Cape May voted for McCain?

Still, I would never live in Jersey, only visit. Tongue

Lake Arrowhead, Yucaipa, Big Bear, and a few others.

Big Bear is a dump, with ugly arterial strung out franchise junk, and a shallow ugly lake. It sucks. Boo!  Smiley  Granted, it has the best ski areas in SoCal if one is not up to driving to Mammoth, and appears to be a good place for a young to hook up.

There are some nice areas in both Rancho and Redlands, yes. San Bernadino itself is a sh**thole, but compare it to Barstow Tongue

Maricopa County, but only as a renter, because I don't like the prospects of investing in the desert long-term. I don't aspire to live there, but I could see myself enjoying it for a few years.

Monmouth County, NJ, in Asbury Park or one of the neighboring towns.

BRTD may have a point, but I'm sure I could find happiness living somewhere in Orange County. All my home counties have turned blue, so I probably need to move, lest I become a "fake American."

I lived in a county that voted for McCain (Washington. Although my old hometown, Monongahela voted for Obama), and I left it thankfully to come to civilization.

I certainly can be!  I just wanted to respond to the OP's dumb question with an equally dumb answer.

El Dorado and Placer counties have plenty of good areas that are within a decent commuting range of my job.  If money and employment were no object, I would be happy living in the Gold Country, far northern California, or southwestern Oregon.  I'm also a fan of Wallowa Lake in Oregon and Walla Walla in Washington.
