It's gotta be Pol Pot.

His regime was the definition of society suicide.

Stalin comes in a close second due to the fact that there was nothing anybody could do to avoid being a target of his regime but at least his power grab wasn't so crazy that other Communist nations would need to intervene to stop him.

Anyway by that point the communist world was hardly united in any way, if it ever was. Except of course in the imaginations of the CIA.

Anyway actually I agree with Tweed to a certain extent. But what he is talking about was already there under Lenin.

I know that Mao is viewed as a "kewl" icon nowadays, but he was a horrible man, because he was ready to kill men and women and children to his own political interest, of course, but he was also an expert in killing minds.
In a way never seen elsewhere, because it was random or just a consequence of his personal interests of the time. And he killed one generation after the other.
And this kept on until he was very old (even Stalin had less power and less lethal behaviour while getting older).
And he managed to keep this intellectual influence in the West, which is amazing !...

Pol Pot was just a small Mao without any carefulness for the future... Mao knew where not to go too far... even in massacres, starvation and political repression.
Pol Pot was stupid where Mao was clever and "efficient".
