Wow, looking at both Arkansas polls released today, it looks like Lincoln is in deep trouble.

Indeed, she seems as endangered as Harry Reid, if not more so. This may be another step in the road to the GOP exclusively being the Southern Party.

How is the GOP is becoming exclusively the Southern Party?

Now I will admit anything the GOP has gained recently has been overwhelming in the South, but Republicans just landslided in VA (some don't consider it southern anymore) and picked up New Jersey. Sure the Dem candidate was weak, but the McDonnell campaign was VERY effective in winning over the independent voters. That style campaign should be the model to follow.

Also, Republicans have a great opportunity to gain back a senate seat and a governorship in Colorado and Pennsylvania, as well as the Arkansas senate seat.

but all that to say, what your saying about the GOP becoming exclusively the Southern Party is the perception at the moment since the Republicans had unusually horrible years in 2006 and 2008, where they lost everything everywhere but the South.

Politics is cyclical, and Dems won't control everything forever, just as we saw in 2006 where the Republicans won't control everything forever. The Democratic and Republican parties have been the two major parties now for 150 years, and that is not likely to change, unless there is some serious civil issue that causes states to secede.

So yeah, that's my ramble for the evening Smiley

I wasn't trying to suggest that the Republicans were on the path to extinction or anything. While I'm no fan of them by any means, I find talk of either party dying out ridiculous & hope the GOP remains large enough to tie up the Democratic agenda (though preferably only on economic issues Wink). Nevertheless, it seems like over time that the Republicans get more opportunities in the South & fewer elsewhere. 2010 may seem like a reversal, though you also have to realize the Republicans will be stronger this time than they have been since 2004.
