That is the current way Mideast Assembly seats are determined.

The problem now, however, is that there are 5 seats!

My suggestion: Switch to STV immediately. But I know there are people in the Mideast that don't want to use it, so at least make sure voters get 5 preferences and that the law is updated to include combined 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th preferences for the 4th seat and total preferences for the 5th seat!

Otherwise I smell an electoral disaster!

Where do you stand on STV? I've talked to Swedish Cheese and he seemed to indicate he would introduce that.

Decidedly unsure at best. I don't think it's wise to open this can of worms days before the election as an emergency measure. Best to leave that proposal for consideration in the next Assembly session (with all five duly elected members of course). :-)

Since STV has been tested in Atlasia for five seats already, I would suggest that it be used. The new Assembly can discuss the matter of electoral law (though I would prefer that they keep STV).

IIRC, the way of doing this would be to repeal the current voting system. Since there would then be no statue on the matter, electoral law would revert to the constitutional default of STV.
