I'm trying to figure out just how much health insurance people will have to buy as of 2013 in the health plan passed in the house. Are high deductibles allowed? Do we have to have dental, optical, chiropractic coverage etc.  It will be funny when millions of young people who voted for Obama realize that they have to buy insurance that they are not currently budgeting for. (of course many will qualify for subsidized insurance).  Personally, I like to have as little insurance as possible, just catastrophic, and right now am looking to get a much higher deductible for my homeowners insurance, so this forced insurance plan (and I greatly fear it will amount to forced overinsurance) is greatly disturbing.

One would hope that this will lead to the next step - support for 'socializing' the entire cost rather than utilizing this absurd system of individuals paying for 'their own' insurance.

Update, did find out that  earners making 29000 would qualify for subsidy if  new insurance mandates force them to pay more than 1.5 % of income on it, as income goes up, subsidy phases out at higher percentage of income. Guessing that under 29000 would qualify for medicare?

medicare is for the elderly, rob.  If you mean medicaid, I don't think single gentlemen can qualify for it no matter how low their income.
