I had some good interactions with him in the past, but it is hard to call someone a FF if they think that your wife should be kicked out of the country simply for being a non-European immigrant (and a legal one at that.)

Ok, so you agree I never said that your wife "should be kicked out of the country simply for being a non-European immigrant", this was all a rather wild interpretation on your part - glad to have that cleared up. The way this thread is developing the next person is going to accuse me of eating cute little puppies. All because most of you never encounter someone to the right of Barack Obama - or someone who is actually willing to be open about his conservative views and discuss them.

You didn’t directly say, “Xing’s wife specifically should be kicked out of the country”, no, but if you’re not denying that you think all immigration to the U.S. should be halted without exception, and including ongoing immigration processes, then that would include my wife. Sure, it’s less direct, but that doesn’t make the impact of such a belief better for me. It’s like if I were to say that all guns should be forcibly taken from everyone, and then claim that I never said that (x user)’s gun specifically should be taken, but not deny my belief or it’s implications. Or if someone made antisemitic comments and then said, “I wasn’t directing them at you personally” without denying them. The fact is, if someone’s political beliefs becoming a reality would directly affect your life in an extremely negative way, you’re not exactly going to be happy about it or think “well, that’s just their opinion, which is just as valid as mine”, even if they don’t explicitly say that it’s directed to you personally. I’m not completely intolerant of other immigration views, but it’s an issue that hits close to home for me, so views that lack nuance such as “halt all immigration”, or “legal immigration is way too easy” aren’t exactly going to win favor with me.

And I’m done with accusations from right-wingers of left-wingers being intolerant, since 95% they are extremely hypocritical. How often do we hear about how “dangerous” the left or “socialism” is? The number of right-wingers I’ve met who show consistent respect for my views are few and far inbetween. Sure, they wouldn’t claim that I have no right to express my views (in most cases), but it’s not like they think my views are just as valid and true as theirs, and not say how ridiculous or dangerous my views are. Conservatives should practice what they preach when it comes to being “tolerant of dissent.”
