This bill should create a lot of jobs. Unemployment should be lowered by 0.2 points each year.

Your thoughts (and it won't be expensive)/

So this bill will basically call for the creation of what seems to be paid internships. Sounds like a great idea.
Paid internships? What is it?

An internship is basically a temporary job where the person (the intern) focuses on gaining training, skills, and experience in a particular career. In the US, many internships are unpaid.
Long live to slavery Surprise.
In France, it's paid.
Well, this bill is a bit like that but not completely (longer first, and the guy is definitely not considered as an intern, but as an employee).

I support the bill, but a few revisions such as the bolded part (Cuyahoga County has that in place for some of their services) and the strikes out part I feel is unfair to young employees trying to make a living on their own and buy a two bedroom apartment or pay their college tuition which they would struggle to do on one job.

I declare myself hostile to Adam Fitzgerald's amendment.
The current minimum wage is at $17 per hour. I don't think it could hurt young people. With a so high minimum wage, you live decently.
And this bill is made for people who DON'T HAVE A JOB. My will is to reduce unenmployment.

I would be willing to impose new limits (section 2) 2) for instance).
I would support an amendment making sure thse jobs would be full-time jobs.

I urge the Althing to reject Fitzgerald's amendement. My purpose is to create jobs for people who are struggling to find a job. And Fitzgerald's amendment would definitely end this purpose.

I would an amendment making jure these jobs would be full-time jobs.

Well, Windjammer, since you declared yourself hostile to the amendment, it won't be put up for a vote. However, you can still propose an amendment that would make the jobs envisioned in the bill full-time.
Thanks for the precision!  Tongue

35 hours per week, does it seem reasonable in the USA?

Ooops, sorry,
Well, I have a feeling what I will write, this will have a grammar problem. So,
Could someone write correctly an article forcing these jobs to be at least 35 hour/weel jobs?
Thanks!

I'm personally opposed to parts of this bill. Why should we only offer jobs to young people? Aren't there others that are older looking for work?
Simply because the Unemployment is most importany for the young, and starting a career is extremely important for young people as well!
If you want to make some amendments, I'm of course willing to compromise!

The Midwest has recently come under fire for having too vague of Bills, and looking at this I feel like there is not enough specifics/regulations. For this reason, along with the fact I feel like there are people of other ages who ought to be assisted in finding work as well, I guess I will vote nay.

Nay.

I understand you vote Aye for the 2nd reason, but for the 1st:
It was just 1 bill, and when you see the number of bills that had passed the Midwest, the ratio of "poorly written" is extremely low.

And I don't think that's the case for this bill, I spent a long time writing this bill, thinking about all eventualities. But even if you find something that you believe it should have been "improved", you can always write amendments.

But I won't stop signing and passing laws just because one law is unfortunately under fire, mistakes can happen, and they don't happen often in the Midwest. Tongue

Sorry for the delay, defending the MW LGBT bill was really long.
