I find this more than a little hard to believe. Not because I think Trump's incapable of having these views, but because he's usually somewhat careful to avoid insulting his base.

The man suggested on national TV, live, that maybe it would be a good idea into 'injection' of disinfectant to beat coronavirus and 'clean' the lungs.
This was broadcasted to everyone in the US, including "his base" (and the world).
Why give him any credit, or deny what he truly believes and says.
The guy is a horrible human being ... horrible beyond belief!

I heard from an anonymous source in the White House that Trump crudely propositioned Mrs. Claus porn star Stormy Daniels during a state visit celebrity golf tournament in Nevada to the North Pole in the penthouse room at Harrah’s hotel.

Fixed it for you.
You had some details wrong, but do you see how changing some minor things makes my "fairytale" 100% believable and accurate.

My local news just mentioned this story (briefly), but I dont see anything on the major news websites (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc.)
Do you think they are waiting for better/more confirmation?
Maybe tomorrow morning?

I think we need to wait and see.
The major news websites dont even have the story on their front-page yet.

Nobody will remember it by this time next week.  So no.  Pussygate didn't even last 2 weeks.  The man can say just about anything, most people are numb to it.

Military personnel and their families, WILL REMEMBER IT.
I have no doubt in this. Period.

No, there's no voice recording, no sources that aren't anonymous, and as Trump so prophetically said, he could kill someone on 5th avenue and his fans wouldn't care.

Sadly, his remarks will make no difference and change no votes.

I was with you until this part. It probably won't have a statistically significant effect or anything, but I don't doubt it will get at least a few military voters who were on the fence about voting for him to either vote for Biden or stay home. This is far worse than even the McCain and Khan comments. Between this and the bounties, he is REALLY pushing just how far he can go with the military.

Exactly.
And a real-close state like NC or FL (for example) on election day, could swing/tilt Biden's way.

He is completely using "the military" for political purposes, and cares nothing about them.
Unfortunately many, you included, can't (or don't want to) see this, and are thus fooled by his deception.

Well the simple answer it makes him seem less pro-military. Regardless, they won't have a noticeable long term effect tbh.

The key word here is seem. It's speculation and hearsay. People that have actually been around him know he's pro military. And yes, he said stuff about McCain, but let's be clear that he was just riling up his base and wasn't actually serious.

Again, like many other pro-trump individuals, you all make excuses for his Clownish and unprofessional behavior.
When is it appropriate to say such things about another individual, just to "rile up his base"?
Why should trump not talk about McCain's (or Biden's) wife using very inappropriate sexual context, just to "rile up his base."
Or to hope some of their family members die or are killed using "NRA sponsored guns with massive magazine clips" ... that will "rile up the base."
You see, these comments are appropriate and can be excused, if you are doing it to just "rile up your base."

This has more legs than I thought it would.

I don't see why you thought that.
How we treat our soldiers (past and present) is an important issue in the US. People and news media are going to take major interest in this story.
I knew this could be explosive, and unlike some saying that it will have "no effect," it can/will have a minor/tiny effect, and that could be enough to winning or losing a state like NC or FL (for example).

You know the really sad part of this story?  Regardless of its veracity, nearly everyone can easily see Trump saying everything he is alleged to have said.  We know the content of his character well enough by this point.

And we know the racist character of BLM.  The anarchist character of Antifa.  And the cowardly character of Joe Biden.

This story is already dead. A dozen named Trump officials denied this as well. None of the msm are talking about it today. Another hit and miss smear campaign by the media arm of the Biden campaign (who just so happened to have an ad ready right when the Atlantic posted its article)

LOL.
You would like the "story to be dead," but it is not.
I'm sure all/most of the Sunday morning political shows will be discussing it tomorrow.
So wake up early ... and happy watching.

No one believes or cares about this bs except people that already hated trump

Sorry my friend.
But many current and former military members, and their families, "care" and will absolutely remember this when they happily vote for Biden instead of Traitorous-&-Trashy-Trump.

The media has given us no reason to believe that this is true.

Maybe, maybe not.
But, trump (and all his past comments/behavior) has given us every reason to believe that this is true.

This is highly anecdotal, but...

There is a house I fairly regularly drive by that, for the past few months, has had a large TRUMP flag hanging out front.

Someone in the household is a veteran, as evidenced by the various military decals/license plates on cars parked in the driveway; I even looked up the house on the county property tax database and confirmed it receives a veteran's tax exemption.

Today, I drove by the house and the flag was gone.

Maybe they still plan on voting for Trump. Maybe this incident had nothing to do with the decision to take it down. Still seems very coincidental.

No, no.
I would be willing to bet that your suspicions are correct. Especially if you always saw the flag there everyday, and now all of a sudden it is gone. The timing, for a vet especially, is too coincidental.
Thank you for sharing this story.
And again, for those who thought this would have "zero effect," you are wrong.

Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, said his magazine's story about Trump calling Americans who died in battle "losers" and "suckers," was just the tip of the iceberg.

"I would fully expect more reporting to come out about this and more confirmation and new pieces of information in the coming days and weeks," Goldberg told CNN's Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" Sunday. "We have a responsibility and we're going to do it regardless of what he says."

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/06/media/jeffrey-goldberg-atlantic-trump-reliable-sources/index.html

It seems likely that there's a ton of other negative information about Trump out there.  I wonder if there will be a steady drip of it until Election Day, consuming the news cycles and effectively crowding out any effort by Trump to make the race about Biden.

But playing devil's advocate, how often have we heard that there's "more damning info" about Trump (or insert Democratic politician here)" over the past three-years-and-change only for us never to hear about the issue again?

Maybe they decided to save-it and are timing it for a drip-drip-release-campaign over the next 60 days?

Damn I'd hope so. Especially if Pelosi has some dirt saved up that she can drop as an October surprise.

I bet she would be happy to do it, especially after trump has been dogging her in the press over this dumb, hair-salon story. Pelosi payback time.

Trump’s campaign literally just mocked Biden for visiting the graves of his first wife, young daughter, and son.
Republicans are horrible people.

Trump campaign director mocks Joe Biden as he visits family graves
Anyone care to defend this?

This is really gross.
I don't really think it should be in this thread though. We should create a new thread exclusively for this story.
