I have always been of the opinion than Hasidic groups should be classed the same way than Hezbollah or Hamas are classed.

Same backwardness, same oppression, same disdain for law.

I live near two big Hasidic neighborhoods, I totally disagree.  Hasidic people mostly keep to themselves and aren't generally violent.  As stupid as their religious beliefs and lifestyle are, they don't commit acts of terrorism.

Honestly, I think you have a better chance of having your ass kicked for being gay in the black neighborhood (Bed-Stuy) a few blocks south of where this took place.

I don't care about their hair, I care about Hasidic women and their children, victim of a Taliban-like oppression.

I agree that Hasidic culture oppresses women and children and adult men too.  There are serious sexual abuse issues that get covered up.  There is extreme religious fundamentalism, poverty and lack of education, hatred of Arabs, hatred of Israel, it's not a good scene.

That said, it's nothing like the Taliban.  The Taliban was/is much, much, worse.
