Trump to speak to nation about Syria in about 5 minutes, according to the press

You can merge with the other thread in a half hour or so, but everyone should know it's at this point right now.

edit: it's happening, the strikes and speech (UK and France doing it too)

Says there will be no indefinite war, but the bombs will drop until Assad can no longer develop chemical weapons

Syrian TV says they are now activating counter-strikes to attack US, UK, and France
(though I'd take their capabilities with a grain of salt, could be bluster)

Mattis calls it a one-time strike... but that contradicts what Trump said earlier. It's great to see the coordination within our military & government on important matters like this.

They are.

Russia knew about this attack before it happened.  Weeks ago even.  See a few posts above, it was confirmed by the AP.  This was a staged attack that is not meant to solve anything at all. It’s only intention is to distract from the investigations going on into Trump’s several scandals.

Why would the UK and France go along with it?
