To me he's just another one of the Supreme Court mediocrities. He's not going to be remembered as one of the Supreme Court greats like Joseph Story, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Benjamin Cardozo, or Hugo Black. A mediocrity gets some decisions right -- look at the recent unanimous decision about civil asset forfeiture. But they inevitably get some decisions wrong too.
I agree here. Obviously, Democrats would put up the biggest fight they can to prevent moving the Court in the opposite direction. However, that doesn't mean it had to be Kavanaugh. Beyond all the accusations, he proved to the Senate and American people that he did not and does not have the temperament to serve on the Supreme Court. Trump could've easily nominated a brilliant conservative mind that would've passed the Senate with minimal issue. I mean, imagine a woman with the charm of Chief Justice Roberts and the conservatism of Justice Scalia. That's the kind of nominee that scares me.
