That's been my view for as long as I've held political views. I don't think there should be any legal age against smoking or drinking. That's largely an issue of parental discipline. I think the purchase age should be 18 for both smoking and drinking. I think the main legal issues arise when you choose to engage in those activities in places where it should not be permitted. There should be strict laws against smoking in public places and near those places.

It is a state issue.  Let them decide.

That's not an answer. You're dodging the question. I don't think most people here would disagree and would in fact extend the same protection to the drinking age. What do you think should be done with the smoking age, in your own state and perhaps in others?
