As a partisan, I can only hope the Republicans blame Sandy and Christie and not themselves for their failings in this election. If you don't see anything wrong with the Romney Campaign or the Republican Party as a whole, you are only setting yourself up for further defeat. Your side lost the Senate this cycle 25-8, which I heard is the most lopsided result since 1964. By all means, please blame anyone and anything but yourselves. It'll only make it that much easier for our side to expand our majority in the Senate, win back the House, and win a third consecutive term in the White House.
I really don't think the Republicans lost by enough in this election to learn their lesson. You have the voice of reason from people like Joe Scarborough and David Frum (sorry, I was watching Morning Joe this morning, so they came to mind first). Your side has a woman problem and a demographic problem due to the extremist elements in the Republican Party. If Republicans are still stuck in the bubble in not realizing that, they will face a similar result as Democrats faced during the 1980's at the presidential level. I don't really know, but maybe it takes a 3+ consecutive loss for President to realize that there is an internal problem within a party. We'll just have to see over the next couple years if Republicans have really learned the lesson of this election. I know Democrats cannot hold power forever, so I'd really prefer we have two sane parties in this country.
