I don't know where the joke ends and I don't think that anyone else here does either, including him.

Whatever his real politics are, they seem to be reducible to "something that makes people like me comfortable." This is not an unusual perspective, but I can understand why it would motivate someone to mask himself in chauvinism and buffoonery.
