Sorry for triple-posting, but according to CNN Rubio is expecting a strong third.

www.cnn.com

The GOP-e rallying around Rubio is the most realistic chance that the amnesty wing of the party has right now to derail Trump. If turnout is juiced above 130-140K, Trump will likely win Iowa. He has pretty commanding leads in NH and SC and NV on the way to Super Tuesday.

CNN entrance poll:

Trump ~29%
Cruz ~22%
Rubio ~19%

OMGZ!!! RUBIO DEFIED EXPECTATIONS, IS THE REAL WINNER!!!

I've seen him in that rough range on a lot of the polling data. I think Seltzer had Rubio at 15%. Trump/Cruz roughly in the same ballpark. All around the fringes of the MOE.

Rubio is doing well but can he survive Trump sweeping the first three?

Yes, given that very few people identify Trump as their second choice.  Rubio will have to hope that Bush Christie etc etc mostly drop out.

I don't think either drop out ahead of New Hampshire... Perhaps in time for South Carolina or Super Tuesday.

What percentage is usually in when they make a call?

EDIT: I know it depends on how close it is, but just curious

Hard to make a call here early. Obviously, the bigger sites are going to be the last to report as they have more votes to count. So while you may have 25% of the precincts in, you do not have 25% of the total vote in, if that makes any sense.
