Does it really matter?  Unless we were amoung the reallt lucky first class men to get onto the boats before everyone realized the damn thing was sinking, we would all be dead... its just that some of us would be doing it trapped like rats kicking and screaming and some of us woudl be doing it with a Brandy in hand.

I would like to note a revision to my earlier states, acctually... Opebo would probably survive, as he would travel First Class, and he woudl make sure he was one of the first people on a lifeboat.  Other than that, though, I think the rest of us are as good as dead.

Steerage

This site is rather interesting. It gives the ticket prices for the various cabins on the Titanic in both modern day terms and what they cost in 1912.

First-Class (parlor suite): £870/$4,350 ($50,000 today)
First-Class (berth): £30/$150 ($1,724 today)
Cost of a Second-Class ticket (one way): £12/$60 ($690 today)
Cost of a Third-Class ticket (one way): £3/$15 to £8/$40 ($172 to $460 today)

Couldn't find Steerage but it would probably be less than a $150 in modern day terms.

"Steerage" and "Third Class" are the same thing.
