I bet if the campaigning gets negative... which I suspect it will... it will benefit the democrats...
Because like some of you said... negative ads supress voter turnout... And this year it seems like Bush hatred is so rampant, the 45% of this country that hates Bush is going to turnout no matter what.
So all I can say is I hope Bush does the usual right-wing nasty campaigning.
The campaign is already negative. The Dems have spent the last three months competeing to see who can go the most negative on Bush and say the least about themselves (expept Edwards and Liebermann). More over I find it curious how any fair minded individual could ascribe 'nasty campaigning' to only republicans. What about LBJ's anit-Goldwater ads in 1964. Or the 2000 ad that told voters that 'another Black Church will burn' if they elect Bush. Both sides do it, so don't pretend to be holier-than-thou-art about the issue.
