The more I hear about Obama's pastor and his associations with the pastor, the more upset I get.  Throughout this campaign I have moved from admiration of Obama because of his supposed bipartisanship and message of national unity, to disdain for the cult-like attitude of his supporters, and now to anger that the Democratic Party would nominate a man who clearly sympathizes with anti-American sentiments and evil and racist acts.

Bull!

Farrakhan's 'endorsement' was something which Obama, loudly and clearly, rejected; as well as denouncing his views

At least, I was never fooled into endorsing that George W Bush. Ineptness Personified, if ever it was. It was to be expected really Roll Eyes [I'm just as capable of throwing sticks and stones as you are Don]

That's something we'd have in common

But is Obama the anti-Semite and anti-Caucasian bigot, you seem to have convinced yourself of? Pay more attention to Obama says, not the rantings of Pastor Wright or Farrakkan

Frankly, uniting against the politics of hope and inclusiveness in favor of that of fear and divisiveness sends shivers down my spine

How does his pastor's "sermons" on Sundays jibe with this "hope" that Obama keeps talking about because I see a complete contradiction.

I'm focusing on what Obama says not the rantings of his former pastor. I can, objectively, dissociate the two

The other choice was John Kerry.  LOL

I wasn't too sold on Kerry. I endorsed him over His Ineptness, of course. What self-respecting Americophile Smiley wouldn't?

It's unfortunate Republicans didn't have the good sense to nominate McCain in 2000. Bush has been that abysmal it makes any possibility of my having another 1972 moment (I'd have endorsed Nixon over McGovern) untenable. McCain has aided and abetted His Ineptness more than either of the Democratic presidential nominees have Wink. Granted, McCain hasn't been as servile, these past eight years, as much as most Senate Republicans have

He sat through this hate monger's sermons for 20 years.

That's just it though. Are Wright's hatemongering sermons the norm or the exception? I saw a clip of Wright on the The Beltway Boys and thought he was more a stand-up comedian than a pastor

I'll tell you what Wink when Republicans sever all ties with the hatemongering bigots of the Christian Right come back and cast aspirations on Obama's membership of the Trinity United Church of Christ. Until they do, don't expect me to give you guys a fair hearing. I'm sick of the double-standards

Obama has denounced Wright's 'God Dam America' sermon yet I dare say it was Wright's work with the poor in Chicago that had an impressionable impact on the then young Obama and, thus, played its part in his joining the Trinity United Church of Christ

Nevertheless, there is clear blue water between the politics of Wright, which focus on racial grievances, and those of Obama, which transcend race. Whether white working class Democrats, who are yet to warm to Obama (and he, economically, is on their side) see it that way is another matter. They prefer Clinton, who is much closer to Obama, on the issues, than she is McCain

The bottom line is that political distinction can certainly be made between Obama and Wright that much is obvious; yet something of a spiritual connection, around the social gospel, is evident

Here is the full text of the 'Audacity of Hope' sermon which apparently inspired Obama to join the church or something:

Hardly controversial. Not something that would scare the sh**t out of peeps

New material...

What I am really shocked at is this guy's lack of English grammar during his rants...

This is going to drag on for a while. Obama better give one hell of an explanation tomorrow or he's going to be in trouble. There's no way a sane person can believe he had no idea any of this was going on.

^^^^^^

wow... keeps getting worse.

As I mentioned in another thread yesterday or Saturday, I'm not saying that obama should dissed him as a friend, especially if he helped him when younger (as I'm pretty sure he will mention tomorrow: you don't abandon your friends for political purposes - one cannot be responsible for all the things one's friends will say during their lives). Nobody is saying that. But it is extraordinary lack of judgment having included him in his campaign in the first place! and obama is running on judgment.
Unless.. he happened to agree with him!

Stop being so melodramatic! I've told you before when Republicans stop keeping tent with ... [you know the drill]
