1994 will never happen again.  Especially not in 2006; the Democrats are positioned to lose a small amount of seats in both houses.

Hell, if the Democrats lose seats in the Senate and the House this Fall then something is, sadly, wrong

However, I must concur with everyone on this thread who have suggested that it is unsufficient for Democrats to merely, "Beat about the Bush". That strategy ain't going to get them nowhere

Still, for example, if Democratic Senate and/or House numbers dipped below, say, 40 or 195; or, at the very best, remained constant, it might just be the kick up the arse they so richly need
