Yeah, right when the economy was gettting good too.  Fortunately, many economists believe that Katrina's lasting effects on the economy (outside of the loss of jobs) will be minimal, and that the Gulf region is going to experience one heck of an economic boom in the next few years.

I would think the cost of re-building or re-locating New Orleans would lead to an economic boom. Sadly, thousands of jobs have been lost for the time being but the region will recover
