Several top Republicans behind the "War On Drugs" and the "Southern Strategy" from the Reagan era have openly admitted this. It is literally estsblished as fact and not up for debate, unless you want to theorize that those Republicans lied about their own racism and made themselves look terrible, for some reason I can't fathom.

I love watching conservatives get triggered by reality and spaz out though. Thanks Alexandria.

I'm not confused about America's past, but just exactly how is posturing that we are still at the level of 1960, or even 1980, a useful posture for liberals to move forward?

I'm not thrilled at all about the racism of the Reagan Republicans, and certainly not the tactics of the Atwater crowd of the Bushies.  But I'm certainly not thrilled about the specter of AOC-style Identity Politics that will undo all of the racial progress made and then some.  There are many, however, who welcome the coming enmity levels rising because they think their "side" will prevail.  The Disgusting Wrongs of the Past are not cause to usher in the Disgusting Wrongs of the Present and Future, and that's what today's Identity Politics is.
