I think that the potential for good always exists when folks are willing to talk to their enemies.  It's when folks are desperate for the headlines that come with "historic agreements" that problems start.

Kim Jong Un should be avoided like the plague, not given legitimacy by being invited to the White House by a megalomaniac President.

That kind of policy was pursued for more than 25 years. It hasn't worked.

Nixon and Reagan pursued a different kind of policy, which worked.

Perhaps it's time to return to that different kind of policy.

I'm actually willing to reconsider Nixon's place in history.  He'll be forever tarnished by Watergate, but his foreign policy made the world a safer place.
