Really mixed. On the one hand, he was the sort of Democrat I really like, but on the other hand I REALLY don't like how he funded the HOPE scholarship.

He funded a scholarship program with a state owned lottery.
What's wrong with that?
1) It makes the state dependent on revenues from vice
2) For the most part, it's a transfer of cash from the poor to the upper middle class.
1) Who made you the arbiter of what is and is not vice? We're not a nation of sour-faced Calvinists down here.
2) It's a transfer of cash from people dumb enough to play the lottery to people smart enough to get the grades needed for a college scholarship.

EDIT: More to the point, why on earth would you want the state actively assisting in the transfer of wealth from the poor to the upper middle class?
