Candidates so far:

UKIP and various small parties have yet to select candidates. It would, of course, be a major shock if the Tories don't pick Johnson or if the LibDems don't pick Paddick.

I heard James Whale is being considered as  UKIP candidate, something of a past-it, contrarian, shock-jock hack.. Tends to affect a semi-working-class image (like many people with near-fascistic views cynically do to appear more acceptable), even though he is from Epsom..

I can't really remember much about him now, I used to listen to his talk show because I used to think it was a good use of my time to annoy myself by listening to some ignorant c***.

New Mayoral Poll : April 2nd 2008

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/apr/02/livingstone.johnson

Johnson 51% vs Livingstone 49% (after second preferences)

That's interesting as 29% was the non-white population at the time of that census in 2001 (28.85% to be precise) - I would imagine this figure to be reasonably higher now, which is bad for Boris, which is good, but also bad in how it reflects race-based voting patterns in much of London.

Mayor:

Siān Berry (Green Party)
Ken Livingstone (Labour)
Lindsey German (Left List)
Boris Johnson (Conservatives)
Brian Paddick (Liberal Democrats)
Alan Craig (Christian Peoples Alliance / Christian Party)
Matt O'Connor (English Democrats)
Winston Mckenzie
Gerrard Batten (UKIP)
Richard Barnbrook (BNP)

Berry slightly ahead of Livingstone, who is tied with German. Paddick is tied Johnson and Craig strangely enough.. Barnbrook came last fortunately..

Assembly:

Green Party
The Labour Party
Left List
Respect (George Galloway)
Unity for Peace and Socialism
Conservative Party
Liberal Democrats
The Christian Choice
English Democrats
UK Independence Party
Abolish the Congestion Charge
British National Party
One London (Leader Damian Hockney)

Greens slightly ahead of Labour and Left list.. The latter two were tied (again), as were the Conservatives and Lib Dems (again).. I personally think One London deserve to be ahead of the BNP at least a bit..

One of those silly who-should-you-vote-for thingies:

Edit: I checked and "Unity for Peace and Socialism" is indeed the CPB in disguise.

I very vaguely know/ know someone who knows two of the list candidates and one of them is not a member of the CPB but the other is.. Which suggests it may be a pact of various far-left parties?
