Friendly reminder here that sheriff should not be a partisan position, nor an elected position.

Yea, elected judges were a big progressive idea in the late 19th century. It is a terrible idea, if the Supreme Court was elected, than they would all have been thrown out of office after Brown v Board and Loving v Virginia. A majority of Americans at the time disapproved of those decisions. A majority does not have the right to discriminate against a minority.
