Many Republicans lack a basic respect for the office of the Presidency when a Democrat is in charge. I have a tough time seeing them rally around the flag under President Gore. There would hysterical calls for him to be impeached for not stopping the attack. Gore would certainly not be enjoying 90 % approval ratings in the immediate aftermath, like Bush did. Gore would have a tough fight on his hands.
